The school and I went on a school trip to Ngaruawahia Pools for swimming sports.
Before lunch, I did my freestyle race. It was so hot that I was a hot steaming hotdog. The water was as cold as ice. Aaaagh! The water cooled me down and I felt better. I was kicking as fast as an SS car and making my arms so fast that they were going to come off my body. I could not be seen. When I finished, I felt happy. I came first because I'm a great swimmer.
After the Flying Squadron, It was the parents' race. I said to my mum, “Go, go, Mum, you are a swimming champion,” and it was 50 years before they last won the race. They always came in last. My mum and Mrs Death were in the race too and it was the only reason that we won.
Well done, Rory. Your sentence - It was as cold as ice. - helps me to understand just how cold the water was, and your sentence - My arms were so fast they felt like they were going to come off my body. - helps me to understand how fast you felt your arms were going.
