Athletics Day

Yesterday, our school had Athletics Day and, when we were ready, we went down to the court and said our house chant. After that, I got really nervous in my
stomach.
First, we went to the discus. It was the shape of a frisbee. It was sort of hard to get your hand around it because it was quite big, you know.

Next, we went to vortex. The vortex was the shape of a rugby ball or an aeroplane.
Finally, we went to sprints. First, we did the 80 metres then the 100 metres. I came in 4th and, in the second race, I came in a tie with Flynn.

  1. Well done, Rory. You have written about the day very well. I especially like the way you have described the discus and the vortex, and I like the way you have told us how your were nervous in your stomach before it began. Tell us more about throwing the discus and the vortex. How did they move through the air? Did the vortex make a noise? How did you feel when it landed? Were you pleased with how far it went, or were you disappointed?

  2. Rory, you showed perseverance in the running, I like the way you kept going and set yourself a pace. You look like you were having fun. I hope you achieved some goals and felt proud of yourself.
